Being essentially "humans mixed with cat and bird", they are often described as griffin-people. In spite of their brush with nature, they are decidedly human in their appearance and mannerisms. Set apart, however, by the wings on their back and the cat ears on their heads, it's common to see a gryp commonly engrossed for ages with a feather or a piece of string, exhibiting a mixture of an aloof feline and a playful bird behavior.
Most gryps are born with a love for messing around with things. They are infamous tinkerers, their curiosity often inspiring them to build fantastic and sometimes rather strange machines. They are responsible, however, for some of the worlds greatest inventions, such as the boat. Something many gryps aspire to do is to create the first flying ship.
Because of their colorful heritage, gryps are quite often some of the most brightest and flashiest appearing species around. They are humanoid, standing upright, though are rather tall, females about 5'11 on average, males 6'3. They are usually a combination of an identifiable species of cat and bird, with wings proportional to their body, usually as large as a little over half of their height, and spanning out a little under their full height, and they come in every color and mixture of color under the sun. Their ears sit commonly on the sides of their heads, pointed or rounded depending on the species of cat, covered in a mixture of fur and feathers, usually even poking out from circular ears. They also have tails, which are commonly cat-like with several feathers protruding at the base, sometimes at the tip, and the amount and appearance usually varies quite a bit. Their eyes are blue, green, brown, orange, and yellow, and sometimes their pupils are slit.
Lovers of small trinkets and little gadgets, their wardrobe shows it; hair, which also comes in a rather wide variety of colors and styles, often crazy and matching the color of their wings, is often decorated with beads, feathers from themselves and loved ones, and even small pieces of metal and shiny stones. They like to wear lots of leather and heavy fabrics, sometimes actually incorporating metal into their clothes, as well. It's not uncommon to find them with over-sized gloves and boots, nor goggles and caps, all of their clothing typically crafted by their own hands, as they love to make things.
